In our faith journey, there might be moments where we find our zeal waning, where the flames of passion burn a little dimmer than before. But like every relationship, our bond with God can be rejuvenated, reignited, and made even stronger. This article will walk you through ways to rekindle that spiritual passion and suggest some sanctified retreat places to help you reconnect with Jesus, delight in the divine, and linger in His presence.

Why Spiritual Passion Diminishes

It’s important to acknowledge that life’s challenges and distractions can sometimes eclipse our spiritual connection. Our daily responsibilities, setbacks, or even the gradual nature of routine can inadvertently push our relationship with God to the background. It is essential to recognise these phases and actively seek ways to reignite our love and zeal for God.

Rediscovering God in Silence

One of the most profound ways to reconnect is by seeking solitude and silence. It’s in these moments, away from the hustle and bustle of life, that we can truly hear God. A personal retreat becomes an avenue to rediscover God and go deep into our spiritual wells.

I love retreats because they are my personal time to spend in the presence of the Lord. I usually combine my retreats with a course at a Christian retreat centre, adding a touch of structure to my solitary time. Sometimes, I even find myself journeying to Israel on a prayer retreat, investing time in interceding for nations and aligning my spirit with the heart of God.

Retreats aren’t just about isolating oneself; they offer the perfect opportunity to be still. To pause and reflect. To re-establish our connection and speak to God, free from the worldly chains.

Benefits of a Personal Retreat

Deepened Spiritual Connection: Personal retreats allow you to invest undistracted time in prayer, scripture reading, and meditation.

Rest and Renewal: Physically, emotionally, and spiritually, retreats can serve as a reset button, helping you feel rejuvenated.

Clarification and Guidance: Away from the daily grind, you might find it easier to gain clarity about God’s direction for your life.

Strengthened Resolve: As you deepen your connection, you’ll likely find a renewed determination to live according to God’s Word and will.
