For many Christian women today, especially those involved with the vibrant community of Adorned In Faith, the ever-elusive concept of “work-life balance” can feel like a hamster wheel that never stops turning. The world tells us that with just the right hacks, productivity tools, or time management strategies, we can achieve the perfect balance between our careers, families, personal lives, and faith. But is this “balance” truly achievable, or are we chasing a mirage?

The World’s Definition of Balance Is Flawed

Our society often defines balance as an equal distribution of time and energy across multiple areas of life. However, life is dynamic and ever-changing. There will be seasons where certain responsibilities or relationships demand more of our attention. Pursuing an artificial sense of balance can lead to feelings of guilt or inadequacy.

Christ as the True Fulcrum

For a scale to balance correctly, it needs a fulcrum at its centre. For the Christian woman, Jesus Christ is that fulcrum. When He is the central figure in our lives, every other aspect begins to find its right place. Our careers, relationships, and personal aspirations are best aligned when they orbit around our relationship with Christ.

Seeking His Kingdom First

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus tells us, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This doesn’t mean we neglect our responsibilities. Instead, by prioritising God, we find clarity, purpose, and direction in all areas of life.

Peace Over Perfection

True balance is not about achieving perfection in every area but about experiencing peace amidst life’s chaos. And that peace is a direct gift from Christ. As Philippians 4:7 reminds us, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Building a Life-Centred Community

Being a part of communities like Adorned In Faith allows Christian women to surround themselves with like-minded individuals who understand that genuine balance is found in Christ alone. Together, we can navigate the challenges of life, supporting and uplifting each other in our individual and collective journeys.

So while the world may continue its relentless quest for the perfect work-life balance, we, as Christian women of  Adorned In Faith, know that the only true balance comes from placing Jesus Christ at the centre of our lives. Let’s challenge the lie of work-life balance and embrace a Christ-centred equilibrium, filled with His peace and purpose.
